About Us

Promoting a healthy, germ-free home for happier living with pets.

Why a Clean Home Matters

Understanding how your home environment can affect your health and quality of life.

Household Germs — What's Living on Everyday Surfaces?

 Did You Know?
A home can look clean while germs are still present on everyday surfaces. In an NSF household study, coliform bacteria were found on more than 75% of dish sponges/rags, 45% of kitchen sinks, 32% of countertops, and 18% of cutting boards tested. Surprisingly, the kitchen contained more microbial contamination than the bathroom in the homes studied.

Why It Matters
Regular cleaning helps reduce the buildup of germs on the surfaces we use every day. Paying attention to kitchens, sinks, counters, handles, and other commonly used areas is an important part of maintaining a healthier home environment.

Cleaning Products & Chemicals

 Did You Know?

Some household cleaners, disinfectants, and other products can release volatile organic compounds (VOCs) into indoor air. EPA reports that concentrations of many VOCs can be up to 10 times higher indoors than outdoors. Some VOCs may have short- or long-term health effects, depending on the chemical and level of exposure.

Why It Matters
Cleaning products don't all affect the indoor environment in the same way. Reading labels, following directions, providing ventilation, and never mixing cleaning products can help reduce unnecessary chemical exposure while keeping a home clean.

Indoor Air

Did You Know?
Indoor air can contain bacteria, viruses, mold, dust mites, pollen, pet allergens, and other biological contaminants. These contaminants can enter from outdoors, be tracked inside by people and pets, or originate inside the home.

Why It Matters
EPA recommends regular cleaning as one strategy for controlling biological contaminants indoors. Routine vacuuming, damp dusting, damp mopping, washing household linens, controlling moisture, and appropriate ventilation can all contribute to a healthier indoor environment.

Cleaning & Preventing Germ Spread

 Did You Know?
According to the CDC, regularly cleaning surfaces in your home helps prevent the spread of germs that can make you sick. In most situations, cleaning with soap or detergent and water removes most harmful viruses and bacteria from surfaces.

Why It Matters
Frequently touched surfaces such as doorknobs, light switches, countertops, and other commonly handled areas can be cleaned regularly. The CDC notes that routine disinfecting usually isn't necessary unless someone is sick or at higher risk—cleaning itself is an important first step.

Mental & Emotional Effects of a Clean Home

 Did You Know?
Research involving 5,003 adults found an association between less-frequent indoor cleaning and poorer self-rated health and happiness. Compared with people who frequently cleaned their living space, those who cleaned less frequently were more likely to report poor health and unhappiness.

Why It Matters
Our surroundings can be part of our overall sense of well-being. A clean, comfortable home may contribute to how we experience and enjoy our living environment.

Important: this research shows an association, not proof that cleaning itself causes better mental health or happiness.

Dust & Allergens

Did You Know?
Indoor dust can contain pollen, mold spores, pet dander, dust-mite material, cockroach particles, and other biological contaminants. EPA says frequent cleaning is an effective way to reduce the buildup of indoor dust and allergens, including dust mites and animal dander.

Why It Matters
Regular vacuuming and damp dusting can help reduce accumulated dust and allergens. This can be particularly important for people who are sensitive to allergens or who have asthma.
